Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta
Atlanta,GA
2rw engineers analyzed water and energy savings in more then 3,000 residences at sixteen pubic housing high-rises, two office buildings, and a multi-family townhouse complex for the Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta. 2rw engineers conducted on-site inspections, determined feasibility of conservation projects, and calculated the anticipated dollar savings resulting from many conservation recommendations. 2rw designed improvements at six of the sixteen high rises.
- Project included: water source heat pumps, packaged terminal heat pumps to be installed in apartments in the high rises; lighting upgrades; motor replacements; electric metering; and water conservation measures.
- The automatic meter reading (AMR) system in the high rises is based on a line-carrier system that enables the Housing Authority to monitor electricity use in each dwelling unit, without the need for extensive re-wiring. Residents are re-billed for excessive consumption.
- More than 4,000 residences
- Projected annual savings resulting from this phase of the project equals $806,000.00.
